The CLS applauds the nomination of Monica Bertagnolli, M.D., to lead the NIH

May 15, 2023—The Coalition for the Life Sciences issued the following statement in response to the nomination of Monica Bertagnolli, M.D., as Director of the National Institutes of Health

The Coalition for the Life Sciences applauds President Biden’s nomination of Monica Bertagnolli, M.D., to lead the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  Dr. Bertagnolli is an accomplished cancer surgeon and researcher who has brilliantly led the National Cancer Institute since 2022. The NIH needs a Senate-confirmed leader who can guide the agency and inspire the best 21st century biomedical research. The nation will be fortunate to have Dr. Bertagnolli at the helm NIH.

The CLS urges the U.S Senate to immediately consider this critical nomination and confirm Dr. Bertagnolli as NIH Director.
